This ballad rendition of Rihanna's Umbrella ella ella (sorry cant resist it! ehehe) was done by Mandy Moore.
Initially my reaction was.. NO WAY! a slow and soulful version of the upbeat and remix Umbrella?! For sure it'll be funny and it will just ruin the song. True to my initial reaction, after hearing Mandy's rendition, it really sounded funny and queer. But after hearing it for the second time, I decided that it is worth listening to. Mandy Moore's voice wasnt at all powerful and great but it gave justice to the song. I kinda like this slow and soulful rendition of Umbrella.
If I feel like dancing I will just have to play Rihanna's Umbrella to groove into the beat, but if I wanna enjoy the song in a more relaxing way and also to reflect on the message of the song then I will just have to scroll to Mandy's ballad. I have actually added the song to my playlist! hehe..
PS: I also happen to learn that there's a ballad version of BEP's My Humps rendered by Alanis Morisette. Wahahah it's not worth a pence! Alanis' angst-ridden voice plus the song's playful message equals creepy! ahahah it really makes me laugh HARD!! Alanis probably meant it as a joke.. but still it gave me a fright, I didn't even want to give her version a second hearing.
